Australia owns the largest zinc reserves worldwide – an estimated 68 million tonns. 12.8 million China was the world’s largest producer of zinc from mines, producing a 33.7 percent share of the total world production in 2019.
China: 4,300,000 = 33.7%
Peru: 1,400,000 = 11%
Australia: 1,300,000 = 10.2%
India: 800,000 = 6.3%
USA: 780,000 = 6.1%
Mexico: 690,000 = 5.4%
Bolivia: 460,000 = 3.6%
Russia: 300,000 = 2.4%
Canada: 300,000 = 2.4%
Other countries (incl Kazahstan and Sweden): 19%
Because of the heavy consumption of this metal, zinc reserves are expected to last only for the next 17 years.
